Highlights from today’s episode include:

Silva Santé 03:52
When you eat a fresh plant, a weed, what we call weeds is actually one of the most beneficial things that we can consume. They’re not there just for weed killer. In fact, don’t put weed killer on them, save them.

If you are taking in some kind of herbs, keep fresh basil around all the time. That is actually adaptogenic herb. So, an adaptogenic is a plant that will go and find what’s not balanced in your body and balance it for you. It’s not complicated.

Sage is excellent as well, but I would mostly suggest it for women who are menopausing, it does lower your body temperature. So, you might not want to take it if you have if you’re already like chilly if you have a problem with being more cold and then I wouldn’t use sage but I suggest sage all the time for my clients who are menopausal because it really does help with the hot flashes.

Due to popular demand, I documented these savory recipes and more! The Silva Santé cookbook is chock-full of information on the benefits of all the ingredients used in the recipes, a section on essential oils, plus a chart of edible flowers. Now available in French and English.

Manon Bolliger 00:34

So welcome to the Healers Café. And today I have with me, Silvana Santé. And she’s a natural health consultant, and author of a book that we’ll be talking about. It’s on phyto holistic approach to a healthy quality lifestyle. And I’m going to interview her just to find out a bit about her past she lives in, in Quebec. So, we are going to do some of this interview in French because I know I have also quite a few French followers. So once in a while, it’s nice to hear things in French. And her book is coming out soon in English as well. So, I just wanted to welcome you. And yeah, let’s start. How did your journey began into house and health consultation? What got you interested?

Silva Santé 01:38

Okay, well, first, I’d like to thank you for having me on your show. And it’s just really an honor. What got me interested in health is actually my own health, firstly, but in 1996, I was working for an AIDS hospice. That was there for people in the last stage, AIDS, their last stage. They couldn’t really eat very well; they couldn’t digest very well. And my job was to create meals and menus for them. They were very uninterested in the meals that were already prescheduled. So, I took the time to find out a little bit about each one’s symptoms and started researching on you know, ways to alleviate the symptoms long enough for them to be able to enjoy their meal. And this would help them to digest better as well and not feel sick or bloated or have to rush to the bathroom or so that’s where I started out and really discovered the power of the plant. And that was the that was 25 years ago. And I haven’t stopped researching since then. And obviously trying experimenting with it and more research. So that’s where it all began for me.

Manon Bolliger 03:05

It’s very timely book coming, I mean your French book is out but also the English book to really look at challenges to the immune system, because that is what AIDS is and so is VAIDS. You know when used with that, also, it causes the same thing if when you don’t have a fully functioning immune system, we need things to support it. Yeah. So, what have you found, I know you can’t summarize your book, but what are the top elements or things that you have found that really helped the immune system?

Silva Santé 03:52

That really helped the immune system. Well, a lot of fresh plants. When you eat a …

fresh plant, a weed, what we call weeds is actually one of the most beneficial things that we can consume. They’re not there just for weed killer. In fact, don’t put weed killer on them, save them. And I keep I harvest all my plants. I’ve got things like Mullein; Mullein is one of the most wonderful things for your lungs. And if you’re suffering from any kind of difficulty breathing or difficulty getting your, you know, the mucus to come out when it’s stuck in there. Well Milan is going to do it. Like 100%. It will create a productive cough so that you’re able to get anything out that you need to get out and therefore your lungs can now expand and breathe better and feel better. Another thing that really helps with your immune system is oil of oregano. Oil of oregano is an incredible antibiotic, anti-microbial, anti-viral, those are all included. My specialty is how to incorporate all of these things into recipes, so that they are just as nutritional as they are therapeutic. And that’s what the book is about. It’s coming out as you said in English.

Manon Bolliger 05:28

Hold it up again. Les Recettes Silvana Santé, right? That’s going to be translated in English as well, then?

Silva Santé 05:42

That is already available on Amazon. Or if you want to DM me, I can send you a copy. And yes, it’s coming out at the end of this month on Amazon in English.

Manon Bolliger 05:54

And I noticed that, like some of the grocery stores are now selling, you know, dandelion. I mean, I know, in Europe, we used to put dandelion in salad, it was like a normal thing, you know, but I think you know, at least in Canada, we’ve been trained to spray.

Silva Santé 06:20

To be mean to dandelions when in fact they help us they help the bees. It’s just their gift from nature, and we should cherish them. I mean, I have a dandelion floating in my tea right now. I’m constantly taking herbs in in my teas. And a lot of down the line, the Mullein red clover is another one that is really very good, helps your immune system, it helps all sorts of issues that you might have with digestive. There’s just so much abundance in nature, for all of these things, nature has really provided a remedy or at least soothing for your symptoms. For everything, you know, there’s a little something there for everyone. So, and what I do is go find these things and research them and experiment with them and find ways to integrate them into everyday meals. And what this does is even if you’re not always eating, you know, perfectly healthy, well there’s a little leeway, you know, you’re still giving yourself a little bit of good, actual real nutrition and therapeutic values that help your body do what it needs to do. Because otherwise, it runs out of energy, you know, it runs out, like if we’re just eating junk food, or we’re always in a rush, or we’re always stressed, well, the body gets to a point where it really can’t deal with that anymore, and something’s going to happen. And nowadays, it’s even more we’re filled with anxiety, we’re filled with different fears. The way the world is going, you know, we kind of need a little something to help with the nervous system with our immune systems. And if we’re just incorporating it in our meals without having to think about it. Well, this is a very simple way to increase your own health to improve your own performance, I guess in everyday life and feel better and just be fully fulfilled and have the energy to be fulfilled.

Manon Bolliger 08:55

So, have you found that there’s like you mentioned one that is good for cobs? Have you found people who are sensitive for example, to EMF, electromagnetic radiation, ones that are seem to be helpful for that?

Silva Santé 09:16

Well, I find that Himalayan salt lamps in your home will help a lot. I don’t know about you, but on my cell phone I have a little like this.

Manon Bolliger 09:32

Yeah. Which company I’ve looked at so many companies.

Silva Santé 09:38

Well, I got this one off Amazon. I don’t always like to do that. But there’s some things that are actually you know, pretty good. This one I got from here I have a friend who distributes them. This is the lekowski spiral.

Manon Bolliger 09:59

What’s the principle behind that or how, like, when you you mentioned you do a lot of research, which, for the plants, and a lot of that. I mean, there is tons of research, how do you research? As in how do you decide, you know, between the companies that want to profit from a certain thing or better set up or whatever, to what is really actually, truthfully useful. Not that all companies that are successful are not good, right? Obviously, you can be good and successful. But how do you untangle that web? You know, I’ve had lots of people say, oh, you know, I go into a store, a natural food store, and it’s like, I’m overwhelmed, you know, then I go to Google, and besides warnings on everything, how do you research all this stuff?

Silva Santé 11:04

Well, generally, if it’s processed, I don’t want it. If it’s a fresh fruit vegetable plant, then that’s not processed. And then you don’t have to wade through all the different information that different sides will have opinions about. If it’s natural, that’s the thing I want to use mostly, I know, I mentioned the NAC (N-acetyl cysteine). But at the same time, I tried to do things more plant based, that’s why it’s phyto holistic, as the term suggests, I really try to base all my, the whole approach on different plants that can help to build your immune system and on a daily basis. If you are taking in some kind of herbs, keep fresh basil around all the time. That is actually adaptogenic herb. So, an adaptogenic is a plant that will go and find what’s not balanced in your body and balance it for you. It’s not complicated. You know, it’s not like a million different ingredients. It’s very, very simple. And the more simple it is, the better it’s going to help you the easier and faster it’s going to affect you in a positive way. So that’s what I base a lot of my approach. My research, however, is also done obviously, in the scientific world, I like to find out about different research going on at the NIH, National Institutes of Health. I get some of my information at the Harvard research center, I get a lot of my information from natural sources as well like the Allied Health University in BC. There’s just a lot to wade through. But that’s, you know, that’s part of research. So that’s what I try to do that as much as possible. But I really do enjoy working mostly with plants and herbs. And I find those to be the most effective. Dandelions like you were saying earlier that just builds your immune system and helps to boost everything. One of the other things that in fact, I’ve heard helps with COVID is Artemisia. Artemisia is an incredible plant. I mean, I’ll be honest with you, I caught COVID about two months ago, and I dealt with it myself and Artemisia was high on the list of things I took. So, there was that, there was the oil of oregano. I almost lived off my own my own recipe for a pesto Silvana asante because it’s incredible. It’s just like a health tonic. And it’s delicious. I didn’t hear the name properly. It’s I call it a pesto Silvana Asante.

Manon Bolliger 14:28

Okay, so and it’s made with basil and…

Silva Santé 14:32

It’s made with several different herbs sometimes I use basil sometimes I use other herbs I like coriander personally it really helps to clear your system, it detoxes quickly. Basil is one of them and I love thyme, thyme is an incredible herb. It’s antiviral.

Manon Bolliger 14:57

Yeah, how do you use thyme in recipes? I’ve seen it used in certain recipes very limited, but I’ve never sort of known what to do with thyme. What do you do with thyme?

Silva Santé 15:11

I put it in my spaghetti. I put it in all sorts of things. I won’t eat it fresh because it’s a little strong, but I will put a sprig in my tea and put a little, I’ll chop up a bunch in my vinaigrettes and I just What else do I put thyme in? Just about everything that I cook. Again, fresh is it’s tasty only if you take it in small amounts and otherwise it can be overwhelming and especially for people who are not used to eating fresh herbs. But basil is good, fresh coriander is good fresh. Rosemary is even good fresh, and rosemary is very good for brain health. So, I don’t know some people say sometimes that they’ve been suffering from headaches and rosemary really, really is a excellent remedy for that.

Manon Bolliger 16:13

What about sage?

Silva Santé 16:14

Sage is excellent as well, but I would mostly suggest it for women who are menopausing, it does lower your body temperature. So, you might not want to take it if you have if you’re already like chilly if you have a problem with being more cold and then I wouldn’t use sage but I suggest sage all the time for my clients who are menopausal because it really does help with the hot flashes.

Manon Bolliger 16:53

And like in in a tea form kind of thing or just like cutting up some of the leaves and putting it in soup or salad?

Silva Santé 17:02

Soup or salad is delicious. You can have it tea add it to a shake, it gives it just a little bit of a zing, you know, not too much because again, it’ll just take over in flavor but yeah, you can cook with it. You can eat it fresh, it’s really tasty. Throw it on some salad with tomatoes, onions, you know little olive oil you got yourself a good tonic there you know and the one that will help you deal with your hot flashes. I just consumed sage by the tongues when I was menopause. And so, it helped me I didn’t take any hormone replacement therapy or any of that so I just dealt with it with the sage and it really did help.

Manon Bolliger 17:54

I love growing herbs like I have you know a big moveable herb garden.

Silva Santé 18:03

So, you can bring it inside when it gets cold?

Manon Bolliger 18:05

Yeah, and it sort of self-waters. I went all the way out. I did not want to lose my herbs. And I love using it just gives you know I’ve made so many different types of teas, but you know it’s getting the quantities right and feeling like you know it doesn’t overpower all of those things you know. But I miss it when I don’t have like parsley in my salad or what’s it called, chives.

Silva Santé 19:22

Oh yeah, they’re so good. They’re good on everything. Chives are amazing. Ginger too, I would suggest even though you can’t grow it here. I did a little experiment this spring I stuck a piece of ginger in my in a pot in a plant pot. And it grew leaves, Ginger leaves and they taste delicious. I add them to everything. It is just a just a spicy little test, you know, not as strong as ginger, but you can still taste that little you know, a pre bit. That’s, that’s fun to do. And that one heats your body up. So, I wouldn’t really suggest it for menopause. I’m also through menopause. So now I’m enjoying ginger. Again. It’s good isn’t it?

Manon Bolliger 20:14

Me too. My latest is turmeric root. I just grind it then grind, fresh ginger and then lemon. And like half a teaspoon of honey. It’s just so good.

Silva Santé 20:37

You just eat it?

Manon Bolliger 20:38

I just I drink it, it’s like a tea. So I put it in one of the tea things and let it you know, sit for a while and add the lemon fresh so that it doesn’t get you know, so it’s still active, doesn’t get boiled or anything. So, it’s really good.

Silva Santé 20:59

That’s very close to one of the recipes I have in my book. I have ginger tea, and it requires grading it and I love your idea of Turmeric adding Turmeric to it. That’s beautiful.

Manon Bolliger 21:11

Oh, lots of people are so inflamed as well.

Silva Santé 21:14

Yeah.

Manon Bolliger 21:15

So, it’s like a simple way of including it and you know, you get a good dose of it that way.

Silva Santé 21:24

You know it.

Manon Bolliger 21:26

Then what I do like, then I make it in the daytime, I just add water.

Silva Santé 21:34

Well, you know, here cheers for the viewers to enjoy there’s a cinnamon stick here for people who have trouble with sugar. That helps diabetic, pre diabetic conditions. And the dandelion, of course for everything.

Manon Bolliger 22:04

Our conversation and it just reminds me of you know how, at one point, this was all natural, this was all what people did, right? Just you know, look around to add things into your food because that is the food, it is right there. You know, and, and now we buy these teas that are pretty…I mean, they’re natural, but because of the long production processes, often they are tasteless. We add them with water. They don’t have anything and you know, and it’s so easy to make, it’s so easy to get and find. And I think I think we are shifting to that type of the renewed consciousness about you know that the world has everything.

Silva Santé 22:53

I think so, I think so. I hope so anyway. Hope we’re moving in that direction. I know what you’re saying about the plants being like overly tasteless when they’re store bought, because they are processed. I bought some Malayan because I ran out in the yard. So, I went out and bought some because I was trying to make a remedy for somebody. And what ended up happening was, it was so dry and powdery, that I told them I couldn’t make the remedy for them at that point. And it had to wait until I was able to harvest some of my own. And, you know, it’s a beautiful plant really just wanted to show you that that’s what it looks like all dried it up. Okay, and when you go buy it in the store, it’s nothing but a little powder. I’m not saying I bought it from just any brand either. It was really quite a renowned brand, but it was nothing but powder really, really disappointing. And when you look at this, I don’t know if you can see the fuzz on it. But that’s what helps to look just get your lungs to really start functioning and to really start pushing out what it doesn’t need. It seems like you know, whatever is going around, whether it’s the flu or another strain of Corona or the potential, you know, original, manmade fabricated version of this, you know, we’re dealing with some version of this somewhere in our system. And a lot of the coughs are this kind of flemmy like hard to pull out you know, they are not productive enough to clear right so a lot of people have that sensation that their choking with it, you know? I mean, that’s not the beginning of all the problems. But certainly, if you have that kind of cough, I have not tried that to see if it would work. So good to know really. I suggest Malayan to anyone who has problems getting something out. Malayan and go for a nap and lie on your stomach while you’re napping. Because that will help everything come out. The worst to do is lay on your back. You know, they noticed actually in the first stages of Corona when they were returning the patients over on their bellies, that those people would not need respirators.

Manon Bolliger 25:41

Yeah. Which they don’t need anyways, but…

Silva Santé 25:44

They don’t, yeah, that was all, like, just another way of using it more medical costs. Right.

Manon Bolliger 25:55

It seems that way now that there’s been, you know, much many more hearings on and does seem to have been misused, you know, but again, we’re getting, you know, orders from administrators and not necessarily medical professionals.

Silva Santé 26:12

Right. Well, you know, I’m just gonna mention, even if it’s a little risky, that just to remind everyone that Fauci was around when the AIDS epidemic and he lied to everyone, then. So. Yeah, that came out. I don’t know about it now. So, I’m not making any accusations. But it was very clear back then, what had happened. So, if he’s still in power, well, and you know, he still has something to say about things, even when he’s not right up in the spotlight. I don’t know, it’s hard to think that the truth is coming out, you know, it’s probably not over there yet.

Manon Bolliger 27:01

I think to we follow the money trail. And, you know, you mentioned NIH, and all of this, you know, there’s a tremendous funding, doesn’t mean, they don’t say somewhere the truth. But it’s also what gets shared, is where the mislead happens the most, right? The research is there, but if the media that’s paid, has to follow a certain thing. And other people in the know are discredited or laughed at, or despite their incredible education and background. You know, you gotta suspect that something’s up. I remember being around at the time, because I was in practice at that time. People with AIDS and looking for alternatives to that. And so, because, obviously, some people started discovering that things got much worse afterwards. And, you know, it’s the same with some of the drugs that are, you know, first line and Canada first line, this starts with an R. I don’t know if I can even say it out loud.

Silva Santé 28:23

Yes. I’m not sure we’re allowed to say that one.

Manon Bolliger 28:30

You know, it’s the only choice here, right?

Silva Santé 28:33

They did distribute in…where did I see that? It was the Chilean government distributed?

Manon Bolliger 28:43

Oh, that’s the one with the H No, the R. That’s the legal the legal one, the one that we know is an effective and is responsible for many of the decimal they have all the records, all available on public, you can go look for it, it stops your kidneys and causes that mortality rate is extremely high.

Silva Santé 29:09

For the H one?

Manon Bolliger 29:10

No, for the R one. R…ere. Yeah, it’s called that one is what’s being, you know, promoted in the hospitals.

Silva Santé 29:21

That one’s as no good.

Manon Bolliger 29:24

No, it’s terrible. And, you know, they tried it before and discovered how bad it was, but because it was under the emergency act, different rules apply. So, things that didn’t work then that aren’t likely to work now are still being used whereas other things that has tons of research, you know, for all kinds of conditions are stopped because it seems because they work. we’re in a weird time. That’s all I can say.

Silva Santé 29:57

You know, the reports are out there. It’s funny enough, even in the NIH, they talk about how ineffective depressant medication is. It’s just that you have to really go search for it, they have an obligation to actually report it. But they don’t have an obligation to put it in the mainstream media. And this is where I want to congratulate you. Because a lot of the guests you have, you give them the arena, to be able to talk freely about these things. So, I really commend you on that, Manon, it’s really a courageous and generous gesture on your part. But I want to, I want to say, you know, they keep us so busy also that we don’t have time to do our own research. We’re just go, go, go, go go. And they’re saying, well, we’ll take care of it, we’ll just, you know, come in for your fourth and fifth boosters. And you’ll be fine. And I’m, I don’t know about you, but you know, there’s a lot of people around me that have had those boosters and are getting sick. So, I don’t see where the protection is at all.

Manon Bolliger 31:11

They have now had to admit it, because again, like, you know, everything has to be admitted. It, but it’s not done in a way like, oh, we were wrong. It’s more like, you know, well, it’s ineffective. Okay, well, and oh, it was never actually…the tests were never done to see whether it could stop the spread. Or, you know, it’s like, well, gosh, you know, after you’ve been brainwashed for months, waiting for this miraculous thing. And then they tell you, you know, this is Pfizer at the EU convention, you know, says Oh, no, we never actually searched for that. Then it’s like, where do you fit information that is so nonsensical. It’s like, it just falls, and most people don’t pay attention to it, because all they’ve heard is safe and effective, safe and effective. It’s like, you know, it’s robotic, right? So

Silva Santé 32:18

They have an obligation to say if they want to sell it, right, so.

Manon Bolliger 32:25

Yep. And it’s just insane. But we have to do the research. And I think…the sun’s coming in here. But I think, you know, that’s why I love like the work that you’re doing and the reconnection with nature and, and, you know, helping people like you said, you know, through recipes, just giving people ideas outside of the box of what they can do. And then I’m sure you know, people create their own recipes, once they get going. And they realize that they feel better. And this works and, you know, their immune system stronger, and they’re not getting sick as often as they were, you know.

Silva Santé 33:06

And it’s easy, just go up, you know, you’ve run out of salad, go to yard, pick some dandelion leaves, pick up flowers, you’ve got yourself a salad there is too, really like that’s one of the things that I talk about in my book is how easy it is to just put together something real quick, and very nutritive, easy to digest, you know, not hard for people who have either, you know, digestive issues or different…there’s no allergic worries about a dandelion leaf or a flower. That’s, that’s the other thing is, you know, you can have allergies to a lot of other things. But not a dandelion. I have not met anybody ever had an allergy to eating a dandelion leaf, yes to the pollen, but not the leaf itself, you know. So, it’s very simple. And it’s, it’s a great way to build your immune system and be able to keep yourself healthy. And in today’s world, really, because, again, the vaccines aren’t doing it. Vaccines usually take about 10 to 15 years of trial and error before they’re actually put out on the market. We’re they’re trial and error. That’s what we are now having they’ve got a trial and error for free. There was a time where they would pay people to have these controlled studies. I guess they decided to cut that out and just make it so that the whole world is there a controlled study, right. And it’s not even a controlled study if they insist on vaccinating everybody then they won’t have a comparison.

Manon Bolliger 33:40

No, exactly. Well, they already destroyed the original comparison. Pfizer out of apparent compassion and that was the…I don’t know we’ll see how long this lasts. I hope people ask more questions but we’re not in a society that asks a lot you know and even though the last booster I forget what it’s called, but I think it was six or eight mice I forgot but that was the test. It wasn’t even on humans they didn’t even use phase one two or like we’re not finishing in phase three of the other one, there’s no phases even it’s straight out to the market and you know, and buyer beware what I say as long as we’re still buyers? We just may end up not being buyers we just may be subjects we may just be mice I don’t know we’ll see.

Silva Santé 35:52

That’s the impression I get nowadays is that’s what that’s how they’re using us really.
